【범】Anuśaya (1) 번뇌의 다른 이름. 번뇌는 늘 중생을 따라다녀 여의지 아니하므로 수(隨)라 하고, 그 작용이 아득하여 알기 어려움이 마치 잠자는 상태와 비슷하므로 면(眠)이라 함. 또 중생을 쫓아다녀 마음을 혼미하게 하는 것이 잠자는 것과 같으므로 이렇게 이름. (2) 번뇌의 종자. 온갖 번뇌의 종자는 항상 중생을 따라다니며 제8 아뢰야식 중에 면복(眠伏)해 있으므로 수면이라 하며, 또 중생을 따라다니며 더욱 허물을 더하게 함이 마치 사람이 잠자기를 좋아하여 오래 자는 것과 같으므로 이렇게 이름.
